Bolton boss Ian Evatt was left frustrated with Randell Williams' substitution at Stockport County, saying his withdrawal was down to 'miscommunication'.
Williams was replaced with just 17 minutes played at Edgeley Park, with Josh Dacres-Cogley introduced in his place, after the wing-back suffered a knock which had initially flared up in the weekend win over Blackpool.
When asked about the severity of the problem, Evatt said the 26-year-old needn't have been taken out of the action and the decision to make the change potentially denied the opportunity to hand minutes to Conor Lewis and Noah Halford.
"It's just miscommunication more than anything else," Evatt told @BOLTONFMSPORT on X (Formerly known as Twitter). "He had a hefty bang on Saturday but he was fine to play.
"I think he got another knock on the same spot which he mentioned to Rico, then Rico communicated with the bench and the wires got crossed somewhere.
"He came off when he didn't really need to and that really affected having the opportunity to maybe bring on Conor or young Noah in the second-half.
"But it was a great experience for them. I'm delighted for young Sonny (Sharples) to get on the pitch as well.
"He's not done himself any harm training with the first-team. He's applied himself in the correct way, has stood up really well and to get him on the pitch was a great moment for him and his family."
