Ian Evatt believes his patience with Jon Dadi Bodvarsson is beginning to pay off after the forward netted both goals in Bolton's win at Stockport County.
After an injury-plagued 12 months which have seen him battle back from surgeries to both his nose and ankle, as well as hamstring issues first suffered during pre-season, Bodvarsson has been largely restricted to substitute appearances so far this season as Dion Charles and Victor Adeboyejo have been selected as Evatt's preferred strike duo.
The Iceland international put himself back in the first-team picture with a superb display in the weekend win over Blackpool - laying on the winning goal for George Thomason - and marked only his fourth start of the campaign with a brace at Edgeley Park on Tuesday evening.
Speaking after that game, Evatt had nothing but praise for Bodvarsson and his partner for the evening, Dan Nlunulu.
"He is just clinical when you get him into those areas of the pitch," Evatt told The Bolton News.
"He is calm, composed and he finished them superbly. Jon is getting back to himself and we are pleased with that.
"Obviously, we have had to tread carefully and cautiously but I have seen some really good signs from him in the last few weeks. He deserved his goals tonight.
"I thought Dan's performance was really good. Some of his hold-up play was excellent and he laid a couple of goals on a plate for his team-mates and they didn't quite take those chances.
"I thought those two were excellent."
