Bolton and Salford City will meet at the University of Bolton Stadium in August after they were paired together in the first-round of the Carabao Cup.

The near neighbours have paired off just twice previously, with Wanderers winning both encounters in the 2020/21 Sky Bet League Two campaign as they achieved automatic promotion in Ian Evatt's first season as manager.

Both games were played behind closed doors during that campaign, meaning supporters will get the opportunity to see the sides clash for the very first time in a competitive fixture.

Ties are due to be played in the week commencing August 8, 2022, with the Trotters' home midweek fixtures now set to kick-off at 19:45 following approval from stakeholders over the course of the past week.
