Andrew Tutte has been appointed player-coach of Bolton's new B-Team, while a trio of academy graduates have been handed new contracts by the club.

Tutte, who joined Wanderers on a free transfer from Morecambe in September 2020, has made 21 appearances during his time at the University of Bolton Stadium but featured just once last season due to complications and setbacks incurred as a result of a hamstring injury.

The 31-year-old's playing contract was due to expire on June 30 but he will now remain with the Trotters in an official capacity, serving as the assistant to Matt Craddock whilst also playing alongside a youthful second-string in the Central League.

Speaking to, Tutte admitted the opportunity to take his first steps into coaching was exactly what he needed at this stage in his career.

"I sat down with the manager and staff after last season finished," he said. "They offered me the role and really it was a no-brainer.

"Coaching was something I wanted to get into when I finished playing and this is the first step. Opportunities like this don't come along very often and especially at a club like Bolton.

"The last two years I have been at the club have been two of my most enjoyable, in terms of coming into training and the environment, and the manager and staff have played a big part in that.

"I'm looking forward to learning more from them and helping some good young players here.

"The 'B' team is a fantastic opportunity for them, with the games and coaching they will get, and I'm going to do my best to help them progress."

Max Conway, Arran Pettifer, Matthew Tweedley, Ellis Litherland and Lamine Toure all signed their first professional contracts on Monday and are set to join the B-Team squad, where they will link up with Adam Senior, Luke Hutchinson and Finlay Lockett, all of whom penned new deals on Tuesday afternoon.

The trio have all progressed through the academy system in recent years and will continue their development under both Craddock and Tutte, as they seek a clearer path through to first-team football.
