Oladapo Afolayan has been named 2021/22 Bolton Wanderers Player of the Year at an awards ceremony held at the University of Bolton Stadium.
Afolayan, who last summer turned a loan move into a permanent arrangement following the expiry of his contract at West Ham United, scored 14 goals in 51 appearances throughout the course of the campaign - a total only Eoin Doyle (19 in 2020/21) has managed to surpass over the past 20 years.
The 24-year-old was presented with his award by Julian and Daniel Gilbert of club partners Franking Sense, before taking to the stage to thank supporters who had voted for him via the club's official website in recent weeks.
"I think it's been a long road to get to this point," Afolayan said.
"I've been through a lot but every experience I've had has made me into the man and player I am.
"The past 18 months have been special - the best of my career by a mile.
"I can't thank the fans enough and the manager for showing faith in me."
George Johnston, who scored twice in 48 games following his arrival from Wigan Athletic, was named Young Player of the Year, while Ricardo Almeida Santos took the title of Players' Player of the Year after receiving the highest total of votes from his fellow teammates.
Dion Charles' last-gasp volley against Shrewsbury Town back in January was named Goal of the Season, with the 6-0 demolition of Sunderland just a week after that game at Montgomery Waters Meadow being labelled Team Performance of the Season.
In other awards issued during the evening, Amadou Bakayoko and club employee Geoff Williams were named Bolton Wanderers in the Community's Community Champions, Afolayan took the Top Goal Scorer of the Season trophy for his 14 strikes this campaign, while the BWFC Lifetime Achievement award was presented to Simon Marland as he prepares to step into semi-retirement following four decades of service to the club.
Marland, who has served as club secretary and historian since 2000, previously enjoyed a seven-year stint in the finance team, which itself came after nearly 10 years of writing for the matchday programme and covering reserve-team fixtures.
