Evatt Proud of International Quartet

Ian Evatt believes people are sitting up and taking notice of Bolton once again, after four of their players were selected for international duty.

After years of decline, off-field issues and near-fatal financial ruin, Wanderers found themselves under new ownership in August 2019 and won promotion the following season in what was Evatt's first campaign in charge.

Despite a sense of disappointment that a late-season play-off push may well be beyond them, a top-10 finish seems likely for the Trotters and after seeing Dion Charles, Amadou Bakayoko, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and on-loan goalkeeper James Trafford called up to represent their countries, Evatt says it serves as proof that the club is heading in the right direction.

"It's great for us to have internationals again," Evatt told bwfc.co.uk. "It shows we're heading on the right path with the right players.

"It's nice that we've got players being selected for national duty and nice for individuals to get recognition from their national teams.

"We wish them well and hope they impress and play as well as they possibly can do and hope they return in one piece.

"Traff aside, they are our own players as well.

"Josh Sheehan was also involved with Wales before his injury, so we've got some very good players now. We're heading on the right path."
