Bolton manager Ian Evatt has confirmed Gethin Jones will return to training on Monday after a period of compassionate leave.

Following the passing of his mother, Karen, in February, Jones has been absent for the past three weeks after agreeing to take time away from football to spend time with his family.

Evatt says Jones will report to their Lostock base on Monday, giving the 26-year-old a fortnight on the training field before coming back into contention for the short trip to Wigan Athletic on April 2.

"It's been a very challenging time for him and his family," Evatt told bwfc.co.uk.

"Some things are more important than football. The way he has supported himself and his family and conducted himself is something I'm very proud of.

"We've not put him under any pressure but I have been in constant dialogue with him and he feels right and ready to come back on Monday."
