MJ Williams will go into Bolton's midweek game walking a suspension tightrope, knowing a yellow card against Morecambe will see him hit with a two-match ban.
Under current EFL rules, players accumulating 10 cautions in the first 37 fixtures of a league campaign - not including those picked up in cup competitions - will miss their club's next two outings.
Williams, who has been booked in three of his last four appearances for Wanderers, has a total of nine to his name this season and is therefore on the brink of sitting out upcoming clashes against both Plymouth Argyle and Crewe Alexandra.
Should the 26-year-old escape the wrath of referee Christopher Sarginson on Tuesday, the cut-off point will be activated and Williams will be free to continue playing should he pick up a 10th yellow card in any subsequent games that follow.
The next suspension threshold, which comes with an automatic three-match ban, allows players to build up a maximum of 15 bookings up to and including the final day of the regular campaign - with play-off ties being treated as a separate competition.
