Bolton boss Ian Evatt has vowed to give his full support to Gethin Jones and dedicated Saturday's win at Gillingham to the full-back.

Jones wasn't part of the travelling party at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium after he was granted a period of compassionate leave following the passing of his mother last Sunday.

The 26-year-old will be given as much time as he desires before making a return to playing duties, but Evatt hopes his team's latest victory gave Jones a modicum of happiness after a difficult time in his personal life.

"We've had a real emotional couple of weeks," Evatt told OfficialBWFC on YouTube.

"We've had some newborn children - three of them have had their second child and that's a massive plus and a big thing for them.

"So we've had some joy with that but then with Gethin and his family, our thoughts and prayers are with them. We know they're going through a really rough time.

"We are very much a band of brothers and we all hurt for him. If we could have put a smile on his face somehow, we wanted to do that today.

"That one's for you Geth and I hope we see you soon.

"I know Gethin and I know his family quite well after we spent some time together earlier this year. I know he'd have been looking for our result and he may even have been watching the game, I don't know, but hopefully that's given him a little bit of something to smile about.

"We're all here for him and we'll all support him. We think the world of him."
