John McGinlay has accepted an invitation to become president of the Bolton Wanderers Former Players Association.
McGinlay, whose 118 goals in 245 appearances between 1992 and 1997 rank him 10th in the club's all-time scoring charts, has been a public figure in recent years at events staged by the Bolton Wanderers Supporters' Trust and Bolton Wanderers Remembrance Group, amongst others, as well as airing his opinions on BBC Radio Manchester's matchday commentaries.
The 57-year-old is set to become the new face of the Association, which hosts annual charity events ranging from golf days to sportman's dinners, and will provide a key link to supporters.
Former presidents of the Association include the late duo of Nat Lofthouse and Roy Hartle, with McGinlay now the latest legend to step into their shoes.
