Bolton have completed the signing of Kieran Sadlier, who joins the club from Rotherham United for an undisclosed fee.

Sadlier has signed a two-and-a-half year contract with Wanderers and becomes Ian Evatt's sixth signing of the January transfer window - following Dion Charles, Marlon Fossey, Aaron Morley, James Trafford, and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson in making the move to the University of Bolton Stadium.

The 27-year-old, who can play in either wide positions or attacking midfield, had scored six goals in 21 appearances for the Millers this season, including a hat-trick against Manchester City U21 in the Papa John's Trophy this past October.

A product of the West Ham United academy and later signed to the likes of St Mirren, Peterborough United, Sligo Rovers, Cork City, Doncaster Rovers, Sadlier's deal at Rotherham had been due to expire at the end of the season and the Trotters opted to make a move for their long-term target instead of taking the risk of him entering the free agent market on June 30.

Speaking about the arrival of his latest recruit, Evatt admits his patience has paid off on a deal which appears to have gone under the radar.

"Kieran is a player we tried to sign in the summer and it didn't happen," Evatt told

"We tried to sign him again at the start of this window and it didn't look like it was going to happen and then we've managed to get it done and over the line. I think he's delighted and we're delighted.

"He's used to winning football matches. He's been a big part of the Rotherham team that is doing really well in this division.

"He's a goalscorer at this level, who can play in a number of positions and it's a no-brainer for us.

"He's a player that improves us and makes us better, which we are trying to do in this window."
