Ian Evatt believes Bolton are beginning to find their stride once more after Dion Charles' first goal for the club gave them victory at Shrewsbury Town.

Charles struck in the final minute of normal time at Montgomery Waters Meadow, giving Wanderers back-to-back league wins for the first time since October - when they coincidently beat Salop at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Speaking after the game, Evatt admitted there is still room for improvement as his players continue to gel in his new formation but the boss was delighted with their new-found solidity at the back, which gave them a platform to go on and pick up all three points.

"Away from home we've needed to improve," Evatt told OfficialBWFC on YouTube.

"We've been disappointed with our results. We have had some bad luck along that run as well but first and foremost you have to be hard to beat, especially at places like this.

"You have to come and stand up to it, defend your box really well and defend as a team from back to front. I thought we did that really well today and gave ourselves a chance to go on and win it. It was a wonderful finish from Dion and I'm really pleased for him.

"It's a huge result but we're not getting ahead of ourselves as we're still miles away from where and what we want to be. But for now, it was about stopping the rot and becoming hard to beat again and I think we've done that.

"We've got back-to-back clean sheets and now we need to work on our in-possession stuff and add that to what looks like a solid base.

"I thought we'd more or less seen off everything that they'd thrown at us and then in the final 20 minutes when Jon (Dadi Bodvarsson) came on we looked like we were on the front foot and going to be the team that would go on and win it.

"It was a wonderful goal to win us the game and a fantastic bit of play from Jon and Dapo (Afolayan). It was a wonderful pass, a great finish and I'm delighted for him.

"Since he's (Charles) come here he's suffered a little bit but it's always great for forwards, people who you have signed as marquee players, to get off the mark."
