The next step in Harry Brockbank's career is now known, after he signed for American outfit El Paso Locomotive.
Brockbank, who had been with Bolton since the age of seven, was released from the final 18 months of his contract on Wednesday, bringing a close to a near 17-year spell that had seen him represent his hometown club on 36 occasions at first-team level.
The 23-year-old cited a fresh opportunity in the United States for his departure, a move which has now been completed subject to international clearance.
Upon announcement of Brockbank's arrival at Southwest University Park, Locomotive Head Coach John Hutchinson stated the potential to improve the defender's future prospects were a major factor in his decision to uproot and fly overseas.
"Harry is exactly what we need," Hutchinson told eplocomotivefc.com.
"He is young, but he has also been the captain in Bolton. He has good leadership and great energy which we want to bring to this club but most of all he wants to be here. He wants to be part of this club and what we are trying to achieve.
"He is ambitious; he wants to do well here and see what other opportunities develop in other leagues. He wants to grow and become a better footballer and we want to help make him a better footballer."
Locomotive, who currently ply their trade in the USL Championship - the second tier of the US game, will kick-off their campaign at Sacramento Republic on March 11, but Brockbank could feature as soon as February 8 when they face Stuart Holden's former side, Houston Dynamo, in a pre-season friendly.
