Anthony Backhouse will referee Tuesday's Papa John's Trophy round of 16 tie between Hartlepool United and Bolton at the Suit Direct Stadium.
Wanderers go into the game on the back of a 2-1 defeat at Rotherham United on Saturday, while United were held to a goalless draw by Oldham Athletic that same afternoon.
Backhouse, who will take charge of the game, has officiated 19 matches so far this season - issuing 69 yellow cards and no red.
His most recent outing was on December 26, when he was the man in the middle for Shrewsbury Town's 3-0 victory at Fleetwood Town in League One. The Cumbria official brandished two yellow cards at Highbury Stadium, both of which went to members of the winning visitors.
Backhouse's last match in charge of Bolton was in May 2021, when they were beaten 2-1 by Exeter City in a League Two clash at the University of Bolton Stadium. Seven players were cautioned that afternoon, including Trotters duo Alex Baptiste and MJ Williams.
The last time he refereed a Hartlepool fixture was in November 2021, as they ran out 1-0 winners over Everton U21 in a Papa John's Trophy encounter at the Suit Direct Stadium. One player went into the book that evening - Pools midfielder Tom Crawford.
