Ian Evatt was far from pleased with Bolton's performance against Fleetwood Town but admits the result was the only thing that mattered.

Kieran Lee's 34th-minute strike proved the difference between the two sides as Wanderers booked their place in the last 16 of the Papa John's Trophy with victory at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Speaking after the game, Evatt admitted a number of his players had let themselves down with their displays against the Cod Army and says they will need to be better than the teams lock horns again next Tuesday in league competition.

"The positives are that we're through and there are no injuries but that's about it," Evatt told OfficialBWFC on YouTube.

"We haven't got the bodies or players to be able to rotate. We left Kacha (Elias Kachunga) out and we left Rico (Ricardo Almeida Santos) out who are big players for us and some of the ones who stepped in didn't do themselves any favours.

"As I said, the positives are we're through and there's no more injuries. We've got a lot of hard work to do and we need to be better for the league match a week today.

"The most important thing was to get through and we did that. But credit to them, they're a team of kids who had good energy, good desire and ran their socks off against a team that is fatigued and down to the bare bones.

"I thought they were excellent. We weren't but we know we've got a few days now to regroup, refresh and get ready for the league game.

"With no game on Saturday we can get some rest and recuperation into the players. We can refresh their minds, refresh their bodies and then put in some hard work going into next Tuesday."
