Benjamin Speedie will referee Tuesday's Papa John's Trophy tie between Bolton and Fleetwood Town at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Wanderers go into the game on the back of a 2-2 draw with Cheltenham Town this past Saturday, while Town also played out a 2-2 draw at AFC Wimbledon that same afternoon.

Speedie, who will take charge of the game, has officiated 18 matches so far this season - issuing 48 yellow cards and two red.

His most recent outing was on November 20, when he was the man in the middle for Mansfield Town's 3-1 victory over Scunthorpe United in League Two. The Merseyside official brandished one yellow card at the One Call Stadium, which went to visiting substitute Tom Pugh.

Speedie's last match in charge of Bolton was in October 2020, when they were 2-1 winners over Harrogate Town in a League Two clash at the Keepmoat Stadium. Five players were cautioned that afternoon, including Wanderers duo Liam Gordon and Jak Hickman.

The last time he refereed a Fleetwood fixture was on August 7, as they were beaten 1-0 by Portsmouth in a League One encounter at Highbury Stadium. Three players went into the book that day, all of whom were on the winning Pompey side.
