Adam Senior and Liam Edwards will spend the next month away from Bolton, having completed loan moves to York City and Southport, respectively.

Senior, who had scored three goals in seven games during a recent spell at Ashton United, has been recalled from his stint at Hurst Cross and will now step up a division to continue his development in the National League North.

Edwards, meanwhile, made his first competitive appearance since January 2020 in Wanderers' Papa John's Trophy victory at Rochdale last Tuesday and has been given a chance to step up his fitness in familiar surroundings, having previously spent time on loan at Southport in the 2018/19 campaign.

With plenty of experienced alternatives ahead of them in the pecking order at the University of Bolton Stadium, Trotters boss Ian Evatt believes first-team football away from the club will be of benefit to both players.

"They are excellent moves for both of them," Evatt told

"We were delighted for Liam to come on get a few minutes at Rochdale after all the hard work and effort he has put in to get back on a football pitch.

"We have got a lot of quality defenders here so this is the best chance for him in the short term to go and play some first-team football and further build up his fitness.

"Adam has had a really good time at Ashton and done well for them, so this is the perfect move for him at this stage to go up a level and test himself at a big club in that division."

Senior could make his York debut when they travel to Curzon Ashton on Saturday, while Edwards is in contention to feature as Southport host Boston United that same afternoon.
