Ian Evatt says Bolton's fightback against Gillingham must serve as a 'reset button', as they look to arrest a run of four games without a win.

Oladapo Afolayan and Kieran Lee struck inside the final four minutes as Wanderers recovered from 2-0 down to rescue a point at the University of Bolton Stadium, on an afternoon where for large periods that had looked set to suffer a fourth consecutive defeat without scoring.

Speaking after the game, Evatt expressed his disappointment at the first-half display but believed the performance shown in the final half-hour will provide his players with some much-needed confidence going into next Saturday's trip to Portsmouth.

"We're disappointed with the way we started," Evatt told OfficialBWFC on YouTube.

"The players have had a really tough 10 days. We've lost some confidence and lost some belief. A lot has happened in those 10 days.

"I thought we started really well and then it's the way it goes for us at the minute. We get rocked by a goal and then we can't allow it to go to two.

"That's the type of team they are - second balls, long balls and physical. We didn't do our job from the second phase, they score and make it 2-0.

"From then, first-half we just lost all belief and confidence. We weren't doing the things that we can do and we didn't play with the same intensity, so we got them in at half-time and said: 'What's happened has happened, but now we have to show some togetherness, show the world that we're together and also play with intensity.'

"Again, we started well and then they had one or two moments but once we got that initial goal it was all us. It was almost like we were back to the Bolton of 10 days ago.

"I said to them at half-time, 'Whatever happens, we have to win the second-half and this has to be a kick-start for our season.'

"I've just said the same thing afterwards. They won the second-half and it's a point but this has to be another reset button and start again from today."
