Bolton defender Adam Senior has been handed the opportunity to play first-team football by joining non-league Ashton United on a one-month youth loan.

Senior, who has been with Wanderers throughout his entire youth career, has made five senior appearances since making his debut against Gillingham in August 2019 but hasn't made it further than the substitutes' bench since a Papa John's Trophy defeat to Shrewsbury Town in October 2020.

The 19-year-old is highly thought of at the University of Bolton Stadium but is behind the likes of Ricardo Santos, George Johnston, Alex Baptiste and Will Aimson in the pecking order, therefore limiting him to reserve-team outings.

Senior will be tasked with assisting United away from their current spot in the Northern Premier League relegation zone, beginning on Saturday when he could make his debut in a home clash with Warrington Town.
