Marc Edwards will referee Saturday's Sky Bet League One fixture between Bolton and Shrewsbury Town at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Wanderers go into the game on the back of a 4-1 victory at Charlton Athletic on Tuesday, while Salop were beaten 2-1 at home by Wycombe Wanderers that same evening.

Edwards, who will take charge of the game, has officiated six matches so far this season - issuing 18 yellow cards and one red.

His most recent outing was on September 25, when he was the man in the middle for Morecambe's 3-3 draw with Accrington Stanley in League One. The Tyne and Wear official brandished two yellow cards at the Mazuma Stadium, while Shrimps midfielder Shane McLoughlin was dismissed with 38 minutes played.

Edwards' last match in charge of Bolton was in March 2020, when they played out a goalless draw with AFC Wimbledon in a League One clash at the Cherry Red Records Stadium. He kept his cards in his pocket on that occasion.

The last time he refereed a Shrewsbury fixture was on February 2, as they were beaten 1-0 by Crewe Alexandra in a League One encounter at Montgomery Waters Meadow. Five players were cautioned that evening, including Town duo Harrison Chapman and Shaun Whalley.
