Elias Kachunga will start a league game for the first time in Bolton colours on Tuesday, as Ian Evatt's side head to Charlton Athletic.

Kachunga, who has made 12 appearances since joining Wanderers on a free transfer from Sheffield Wednesday in August, has been restricted to nine substitute outings in League One, with his only prior starts coming in the Carabao Cup and Papa John's Trophy, respectively.

The 29-year-old hasn't started a league fixture since February, when he played 76 minutes for Wednesday in a 3-0 defeat at Brentford in the Championship.

He will be involved from the off at The Valley, however, with the Trotters desperately short on options in wide areas after Lloyd Isgrove suffered a nasty head wound in Saturday's loss at Sunderland.

Despite reporting no signs of concussion, Bolton officials don't want to run the risk of Isgrove re-opening a cut that required six stitches to close and will therefore give him the night off.

Speaking to the press on Monday, Evatt admitted he would analyse the physical data ahead of the journey to the capital, with further changes likely to be made.

Declan John is a potential option to return at left-back, with Liam Gordon coming under fire from supporters last time out, while Kieran Lee could perhaps be drafted into the midfield in place of either Josh Sheehan or captain Antoni Sarcevic.

Andrew Tutte underwent successful surgery to repair a torn hamstring over the weekend and will now begin a rehabilitation programme which is expected to last a minimum of three months, meaning he joins long-term absentees Liam Edwards (knee), Xavier Amaechi (foot) and Finlay Lockett (knee) on the treatment table.

Amadou Bakayoko is closing on a return from a calf injury, but isn't expected to feature for another fortnight.
