Ipswich Town have confirmed they have contacted the police after a number of videos making use of racist language were uploaded to social media on Saturday.

Town were beaten 5-2 by Bolton at Portman Road, with a brace from Oladapo Afolayan, penalty from Eoin Doyle and further strikes from Josh Sheehan and George Johnston guiding Ian Evatt's side to all three points.

One video, which was posted during the game, appeared to be directed at Afolayan, while another posted in the streets following the full-time whistle featured further threatening behaviour from the individual concerned.

An official statement, posted at itfc.co.uk, read: "The Club is aware of a video on social media that appears to have been filmed during today's fixture with Bolton Wanderers at Portman Road.

"We are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter, and we have made the relevant authorities aware, including the police.

"Ipswich Town Football Club does not tolerate discrimination of any kind and will not hesitate to take strong, but appropriate, action.

"We encourage supporters to report any such behaviour by speaking to their nearest steward or through the Kick It Out app.

"We will not be commenting more at this time."
