Ali Crawford has completed a deadline day switch to St Johnstone, where he will remain on loan until January.

News broke on Monday evening that Crawford was set to depart Bolton, with whom he has been a player since September 2019, and the deal was completed on Tuesday morning.

The 30-year-old spent the second-half of last season on loan at Tranmere Rovers and hasn't featured in a competitive game for Wanderers since January 2020, so admits the opportunity to return to Scotland - where he previously represented Hamilton Academical - is one where he needs to show his worth.

"This is a great opportunity for me and I thank St Johnstone for getting this deal done," Crawford told St Johnstone's official website.

"St Johnstone had an unbelievable 20/21 season and to do a Cup Double was just brilliant.

"It's now up to me to show what I've got. There is strong competition for places and I know I'm going to have to be at a high level to get into the side.

"But every Football Club needs a strong squad and it will be good to have everyone pushing each other on for the benefit of the Football Club."
