Josh Sheehan will be unavailable for Bolton's next two games after he was called into the Wales squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Wanderers manager Ian Evatt had expected Sheehan to receive the call last week, only to discover the 26-year-old had been placed on the standby list.

However, the withdrawals of Aaron Ramsay, Joe Rodon, Neco Williams and George Thomas has forced caretaker manager Rob Page into naming four replacements - Sheehan, Brandon Cooper, Mark Harris and Ben Woodburn.

Wales face Finland in an international friendly at the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki this coming Wednesday, before facing Belarus in a World Cup qualifier in Russia next Sunday - with the game unable to be staged in Belarus due to sanctions against the country's government.

They then return to the Cardiff City Stadium on September 8 for another qualifier, where Estonia will provide the opposition.

The trio of fixtures will force Sheehan to miss Bolton's Papa John's Trophy tie against Port Vale on Tuesday, as well as their rearranged televised clash with Burton Albion on September 6.
