Ollie Yates will referee Tuesday's Carabao Cup first-round tie between Bolton and Barnsley at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Wanderers go into the game on the back of a 3-3 draw with Milton Keynes Dons on Saturday, while the Tykes began their campaign with a 1-1 draw at Cardiff City that same afternoon.

Yates, who will take charge of the game, has yet to officiate a fixture this season but did oversee 32 matches in all competitions last term - issuing 105 yellow cards and three red.

His most recent outing was on May 8, when he was the man in the middle for Stevenage's 1-0 victory at Scunthorpe United in League Two. The Staffordshire official brandished four yellow cards at Glanford Park, all of which went to members of the winning visitors.

Yates' last match in charge of Bolton was on April 2, when they were held to a goalless draw by Colchester United in a League Two clash at the University of Bolton Stadium. He kept his cards in his pocket on that occasion.

The last time he refereed a Barnsley fixture was in December 2018, as they were beaten on penalties by Manchester CIty U21 following a 3-3 draw in an EFL Trophy encounter at Oakwell. Two players were cautioned that evening, both of whom were from the home team.

Below is the full set of officials for Tuesday's game between Bolton and Barnsley:

Referee: Ollie Yates
Assistant Referees: Graeme Fyvie and Joe Simpson
Fourth Official: Paul Marsden
