Bolton have added to their squad on the eve of the new season with the signing of versatile forward Elias Kachunga.
Kachunga, who had been available as a free agent following his summer departure from Sheffield Wednesday, has signed a two-year contract with Wanderers and goes straight into contention for Saturday's opening-day fixture against Milton Keynes Dons.
The 29-year-old - a native of Germany but capped by DR Congo - progressed through the youth system at Borussia Monchengladbach before making turning a love move at SC Paderborn into a permanent arrangement in 2013.
He was on the move again the following year when FC Ingolstadt captured his services, before linking up with Huddersfield Town on a season-long loan deal in July 2016 - one which would result in a £1.1million transfer at the end of a campaign which saw him strike 12 times in the Championship as the Terriers achieved promotion to the Premier League.
Kachunga would add just four more goals in the three years that followed at the John Smith's Stadium, and scored just once in a Carabao Cup tie for Sheffield Wednesday after moving to Hillsborough on a free transfer last September.
Searching for his first league goal since July 2020, the forward believes the chance of a fresh start with the Trotters is exactly what he needed.
Speaking to bwfc.co.uk, Kachunga said: "I'm really happy and excited to have signed for Bolton Wanderers.
"I'm a player who puts a lot of passion in my game and I will work very hard for this football club.
"I had really good talks with the gaffer and Chris (Markham - Technical Performance Director) and they explained what their plans for the club are.
"It's been a really long time without supporters in the stadium and I'm now looking forward to playing in front of them here at the University of Bolton Stadium."
