Adam Senior scored the only goal as Bolton lifted the Harold Taylor Memorial Trophy with victory at Chorley.

Originally slated to be a designated under-23s fixture, Wanderers boss Ian Evatt decided to name a strong side at Victory Park as he handed minutes to first-team names including Brandon Comley, Andrew Tutte, Liam Gordon, George Thomason, Kieran Lee, Ali Crawford, Ronan Darcy and Dennis Politic.

Senior, who captained the side in what could perhaps be a precursor of things to come later in the campaign, was one of a number of younger players to feature, with the substitutes' bench almost entirely made up of names yet to figure at first-team level.

The game's only goal arrived on 26 minutes as Senior rose highest inside the Magpies box to meet a corner from Crawford, powering home a header that would ultimately seal the victory.
