Bolton have completed the signing of Will Aimson, who joins the club on a free transfer following his release by Plymouth Argyle.

Aimson, who will officially depart Home Park on June 30, has signed a two-year contract with Wanderers and becomes Ian Evatt's fifth signing of the summer - following Oladapo Afolayan, George Johnston, Josh Sheehan and Declan John in committing their futures at the University of Bolton Stadium.

The 27-year-old, who has achieved promotion out of League Two with Plymouth, Blackpool and Bury, will be reunited with his former Pilgrims teammate Antoni Sarcevic and Aimson admits the chance to sign for the Trotters was simply too good to refuse.

"I couldn't be any happier that this is over the line," Aimson told "I'm buzzing to sign for a club like this with its stature in the game.

"You can go through your career and you might not get chance to sign for a club like Bolton Wanderers, so I had to take up the opportunity when it came.

"The manager, style of football and the fan base all played a big role in me coming here and I cannot wait to get going."

Adding to Aimson's comments, Evatt said: "Will is a quick and mobile centre back who is good in possession and suits the way we play. He has promotions on his CV and will provide competition to the squad.

"I'm delighted that his has joined us."
