Anthony Backhouse will referee Tuesday's Sky Bet League Two fixture between Bolton and Scunthorpe United at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Wanderers go into the game on the back of a 1-0 victory at Southend United on Saturday, while the Iron were 3-1 winners at home to Harrogate Town that same afternoon.

Backhouse, who will take charge of the game, has officiated 22 matches so far this season - issuing 71 yellow cards and two red.

His most recent outing was on February 16, when he was the man in the middle for Blackpool's 1-0 victory over Rochdale in League One. The Cumbria official kept his cards in his pocket at Bloomfield Road.

Backhouse's last match in charge of Bolton was in September 2020, when they were beaten 3-2 by Crewe Alexandra in an EFL Trophy clash at the University of Bolton Stadium. Three players entered the book that evening, with George Taft, Ryan Delaney and Tom White having their names taken for the Trotters.

The last time he refereed a Scunthorpe fixture was in October 2020, as they lost 2-0 to Tranmere Rovers in a League Two encounter at Prenton Park. Four players were cautioned that day, including United duo Jacob Bedeau and George Hornshaw.
