Ian Evatt admits he was pleased to take a point from Bolton's 3-3 draw with Carlisle United, a game which he described as 'crazy'.

Wanderers had found themselves 2-0 down inside seven minutes at Brunton Park as Aaron Hayden and Lewis Alessandra made the most of slack defending at set-pieces, while Omari Patrick added a third for the Cumbrians nine minutes before the break.

George Thomason reduced the deficit with his first professional goal, before a late strike from Nathan Delfouneso and header from Peter Kioso scrambled the Trotters back to 3-3 in a frantic final four minutes.

Both sides clipped the post in stoppage time, while Kioso was sent off for a second bookable offence, leaving Evatt satisfied with a draw which had earlier looked beyond the realms of possibility.

"I've got mixed emotions," Evatt told the Manchester Evening News.

"I spoke in the week about what type of team they were and how it was going to be.

"We turn up and it's gale force wind, heavy rain, everything conducive to being direct and playing for set pieces.

"We just didn't stand up to it well enough in the first half. We didn't do the ugly side well enough.

"We want to be a good team and we want to play football but there are times when you just cannot and you can't play football and you have to get it up the pitch and play on second balls.

"We didn't do it well enough in the first half, got bobbled by the first goal and then two and three.

"Then we have a bit of a fightback when we should have had a stonewall penalty probably at 2-0 - it was a penalty. Then it goes to three and you think that it's game over just after we had the penalty shout.

"We get a good goal through George, Nathan has half a chance and then we knew second half it was going to be a lot different.

"For all our weight and pressure, because we're not built for these conditions and big centre forwards who are physical and who can make it a handful, our centre forwards want the ball into feet and want to play and combine.

"We carried on and the most pleasing thing for me is their effort and the desire to get back into the game.

"We scored a very good goal to make it 3-2 and then we nick one from a set-piece at the end to make it 3-3.

"George has a chance to make it 4-3 and hits the post, then Peter gets sent off, in my view, unjustly as one of the yellow cards was never a yellow card.

"Then again it's backs to the wall with a set-piece and they put it in your box.

"I'm just lost for words. A crazy game of football but I'm pleased to get something out of it."
