Charles Breakspear will referee Saturday's Sky Bet League Two fixture between Bolton and Tranmere Rovers at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Wanderers go into the game on the back of a 1-0 victory at Cheltenham Town on Tuesday, while Rovers were beaten 5-0 at Exeter City three days earlier.

Breakspear, who will take charge of the game, has officiated 17 matches so far this season - issuing 68 yellow cards and three red.

His most recent outing was on December 15, when he was the man in the middle for Port Vale's 1-1 draw with Forest Green Rovers in League Two. The Surrey official brandished three yellow cards at Vale Park, two of which went to members of the visiting side.

Breakspear's last match in charge of Bolton was in August 2019, when they were beaten 5-0 by Tranmere in a League One clash at Prenton Park. Five players entered the book that afternoon, including Wanderers duo Harry Brockbank and Yoan Zouma.

The last time he refereed a Tranmere fixture was on February 22, as they lost 3-1 to Wycombe Wanderers in a League One encounter at Adams Park. Five players were cautioned that day - with Scott Davies, Luke McCullough, Peter Clarke and Andy Cook all having their names taken for the losing visitors.
