Ian Evatt was delighted with Bolton's victory over Salford City, saying a change of style has given his team a platform to build upon.

Eoin Doyle opened the scoring on his return from injury with 23 minutes on the clock, before an own-goal from Jordan Turnbull midway through the second period secured all three points for Wanderers.

Speaking after the game, Evatt wasn't too concered by the Trotters' return of just 36% possession, admitting results are his main priority and focus on his team's style of play will be something implemented over a longer period of time.

"I'm pleased with the win," Evatt told OfficialBWFC on YouTube. "It was workmanlike.

"We had a lot of tired bodies out there. Some lads have been out for a period of time and we've asked a lot of them to get through the game and they did that.

"I thought the back lads were excellent again and they deserved the clean sheet. They defended with their lives.

"We had to sacrifice a bit of possession, which we don't necessarily like to do, but sometimes you have to give respect to the opposition.

"I thought we kept our lines tight, we adjusted really well and the back three especially were outstanding in the way we defended. They didn't create too much and what they did create, Matt Gilks saved, so all in all it was a good night.

"(I saw) hard work, working for each other, rolling your sleeves up and digging in. We're not always going to have possession and things being nice and pretty. You need to graft for your teammate - if we do that on a regular basis and then add quality to it we'll be fine.

"There's no better way for us to build on this result. Under the lights at this magnificent stadium with the Sky cameras here. Let's kick on now and really progress."
