Ian Evatt was in positive spirits after Bolton's goalless draw against Grimsby Town but admits his players need to improve in the final third.

In a contest between the two lowest-scoring teams in League Two, neither managed to register a single shot on target as they were made to settle for a point apiece at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Speaking after the full-time whistle, Evatt believed his side produced a performance worthy of victory but says his frustration lies with a lack of quality delivery from his wide players, who struggled to create opportunities for both Eoin Doyle and Nathan Delfouneso in the middle.

"I'm frustrated," Evatt told OfficialBWFC on YouTube.

"Tee to green, so to speak, up until the final third at times I thought we played very well.

"We created some good final-third entries and opportunities but our end product and final delivery wasn't good enough. Our final decision, the final pass wasn't there.

"They (Grimsby) were tired and we just didn't work them enough. We didn't have that cut-throat mentality where we were going to keep going until we got a goal. I think if we'd have got one we'd have won comfortably.

"The longer it went and stayed at 0-0, the more it inspired them to carry on.

"It was a frustrating afternoon but it's another point - four from six in the league - and as much as we want to win it's an improvement from where we were at and we have another opportunity next weekend against Oldham to get three points."
