Christopher Sarginson will referee Saturday's Sky Bet League Two fixture between Bolton and Newport County at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Wanderers go into the game on the back of a 2-0 defeat at Colchester United last Saturday, while County were 3-1 winners over Watford in a Carabao Cup third-round tie on Tuesday evening.

Sarginson, who will take charge of the game, has officiated three matches so far this season - issuing five yellow cards and no red.

His most recent outing was on September 19, when he was the man in the middle for Peterborough United's 2-1 victory over Fleetwood Town in League One. The Staffordshire official brandished three yellow cards at the ABAX Stadium, two of which went to members of the winning hosts.

Sarginson's last match in charge of Bolton was in March 2016, when they were beaten 6-0 by Bristol City in a Championship clash at Ashton Gate. He kept his cards in his pocket on that occasion.

The last time he refereed a Newport fixture was in December 2019, as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Stevenage in a League Two encounter at Rodney Parade. One player entered the referee's book that afternoon - visiting defender Tyler Denton.
