After starting the new season with three successive home defeats, Bolton hit the road for the first time this campaign with a trip to Colchester United.

A promising pre-season ultimately ended in losses to both Wigan Athletic and Crewe Alexandra, form which has been carried forward into competitive action - with Wanderers going down to Bradford City in the Carabao Cup, Crewe in the EFL Trophy and, most recently, Forest Green Rovers on the opening day of the League Two schedule.

Ian Evatt will be hopeful of an improved display away from home, as he looks to avoid an unwanted club record of becoming the first man to lose his first four games in charge of the club - a feat only previously achieved by John Bentley in 1887/88, although that did arrive in his second reign as boss.

The current-day Head Coach refused to go into specifics when quizzed at his pre-match press conference on Thursday but did reveal a number of players continue to recover from minor injuries, one of which could take upwards of a month to recover from.

Shaun Miller sat out the curtain raiser against Forest Green last time out but is expected to take up a place amongst the substitutes this time around, with Eoin Doyle and Nathan Delfouneso remaining the preferred duo in attack.

Ronan Darcy could also step in for a first appearance of the season, as Evatt looks to rotate the likes of Ali Crawford, Tom White, Brandon Comley and captain Antoni Sarcevic in midfield.

Dennis Politic, Liam Edwards and Muhammadu Faal remain sidelined with long-term problems, while George Thomason and Callum King-Harmes are not available for selection after going out on loan.

Bolton Wanderers: from: Crellin, Gilks, Alexander, Jones, Gordon, Taft, Santos, Delaney, Hickman, Mascoll, Greenidge, Brockbank, Edwards, Baptiste, Senior, Comley, Sarcevic, Crawford, White, Darcy, Tutte, Graham, Delfouneso, Doyle, Amoateng, Miller
