Dennis Politic's long road to recovery has started, after undergoing successful surgery on a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Politic suffered the injury in a pre-season victory at Loughborough University on August 11 and was subsequently ruled out for the entirety of the 2020/21 campaign as a result.

With swelling now subsided, the 20-year-old went under the knife at a hospital in Manchester on Tuesday and is expected to begin his rehabilitation process in the coming days.

The Romania youth international had been tipped to be a shining light of the Wanderers squad during their time in League Two, with Head Coach Ian Evatt previously admitting he will put no timescale on the player's return in a move to reduce pressure on the recovery process.
