Bolton have completed the signing of Shaun Miller, who had been available as a free agent following his release by Crewe Alexandra.

Miller has signed a 12-month contract with Wanderers and will be eligible to feature against Bradford City on Saturday, having become Ian Evatt's 17th signing of a chaotic summer at the University of Bolton Stadium.

The 32-year-old initially broke through the youth system at Crewe to make his senior debut in November 2006 and spent a further six years at the club before agreeing a move to Sheffield United.

Stints at clubs including Coventry City, Morecambe and Carlisle United have followed, with several loan moves also scattered across the country, before a return to Crewe in January 2018 saw him take in a further 33 games over a two-and-a-half year spell.

Looking to resurrect a career now in it's latter stages, Miller says he can't wait for the opportunity to prove himself after training with Wanderers over the course of the past week.

"I am really chuffed to be here at such a brilliant club," Miller told bwfc.co.uk.

"I trained last week and I am really pleased to get it over the line.

"It's a massive club and has the ambition to try and bounce back.

"I wanted to be part of it and I'm really looking forward to the big kick off."

Miller is likely to provide backup to both Eoin Doyle and Nathan Delfouneso during the course of the new campaign and Evatt believes the player's experience will be vital in the months ahead.

"We are pleased to bring in Shaun who is another experienced player that is used to winning games at this level," Evatt added.

"Shaun is a centre forward who can stretch the opposition as well as link up play.

"He has an excellent character and we are looking forward to having him on board."
