Dennis Politic is to undergo further medical observation after he was stretchered off in Bolton's pre-season victory over Loughborough University.

Politic, who was introduced as a 57th minute substitute for Ali Crawford, collapsed to the ground and was in serious distress after attempting to close down an opposition player.

He received lenghty on-field treatment and required oxygen, with unconfirmed reports ranging from knee ligaments to a broken leg doing the round on social media.

The 20-year-old has been transported back to Bolton for further assessments, with an official update on his status expected in due course.

As for the game itself, Wanderers quickly found their stride and broke the deadlock through Crawford soon after the half-hour.

Antoni Sarcevic doubled the advantage less than a minute later, before George Taft headed home a corner from Crawford and Nathan Delfouneso made it 4-0 going into the break.

The Trotters were five-up six minutes after the restart as Liam Gordon headed in from close range, before Delfouneso netted his second to make it 6-0 on 54 minutes.

Ultimately, however, news of Politic's injury status will be the biggest concern as Wanderers look to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion this coming season.
