Bolton have completed the signing of Gethin Jones, who had been available as a free agent following his release by Carlisle United.
Jones has signed a 12-month contract at the University of Bolton Stadium and becomes the ninth arrival at the club following Ian Evatt's appointment as Head Coach in July - with Wanderers having the option of adding a further year should they see fit.
The 24-year-old, who was born in Australia, moved to Wales as a child and linked up with the Wrexham academy in 2007. He switched to Everton a year later, where he continued his development and became a part of their under-18 Premier League winning squad in 2014.
Jones' only senior outing for the Toffees came in a UEFA Europa League fixture against FK Krasnodar in December 2014, after which he enjoyed loan spells at both Plymouth Argyle and Barnsley.
He completed a transfer to Fleetwood Town in January 2018, only to leave the club by mutual consent in August of the following year, and spent last season at Carlisle United - playing 37 games in all competitions before rejecting the offer of a new contract.
A former Wales youth international, Jones spoke to bwfc.co.uk about making his 'perfect' move "I'm really made up to have completed the move. It's been in the pipeline for a few weeks and I'm glad it's all done.
"Bolton is a massive a club and is a club that shouldn't been in the division it is now.
"With it being so close to home and the size of the club, I thought it would be a perfect move for me.
"Hearing everything from the club, about where they want to go and how they want to play this season, I just felt like it was a perfect fit for me."
Adding to Jones' comments, Evatt said: "Gethin had a fantastic education where he came through Everton's Academy and has all the attributes to play as an attacking wing back: pace, stamina, good movement and quality with the ball.
"He is another excellent acquisition for Bolton Wanderers and we are delighted to welcome him to the club."
