As Bolton prepare to downgrade to a category three academy, reports indicate a minimum of four final-year scholars are to be released.

From the start of next season, Wanderers will no longer operate an under-23 team - putting extra emphasis on those aged 17 and 18 to make their case for a first-team place of risk being moved on earlier than previously anticipated.

Last week, it was confirmed Adam Senior, Callum King-Harmes, Matthew Alexander and Sonny Graham had signed 12-month professional contracts but as per The Bolton News, the end of the road has arrived for Joe White, Kwame Osigwe, De'Marlio Brown-Sterling and Myles Edmondson.

White made five appearances as the Trotters desperately searched for a left-back in the early stages of the campaign and completed 90 minutes in the unforgettable goalless draw with Coventry City last August - an afternoon in which manager Phil Parkinson fielded the youngest Bolton team in their league history.

Osigwe was an unused substitute on two separate occasions without ever making it on to the field of play, while Edmondson also made it as far as the first-team bench.

Brown-Sterling featured four times in the opening weeks of the season, with the 18-year-old's final outing coming in a Leasing.com Trophy tie against Bradford City last September.

Bolton are yet to confirm the status of Ronan Darcy and Eddie Brown, who have attracted interest from clubs elsewhere in the EFL, while a number of other under-18 players are expected to be cut in the coming weeks.
