Bolton Whites Hotel will remain closed until further notice, in response to government advice on the spread of COVID-19.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on Monday evening that all businesses classed as 'non-essential' would be forced into closure for a minimum of three weeks, with hotels only allowed to remain open for guests using them as a primary home, or for key workers - such as NHS staff - requiring accommodation.

In a statement, first published by The Bolton News, Bolton Whites Hotel General Manager, Suzanne Speak, said the club had no option but to adhere to the guidelines as the United Kingdom look to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

"Following the latest Government guidelines, we made the decision to close in order to further protect our colleagues and visitors as well as to help prevent the spread of COVID-19," Speak said.

"We are of course monitoring the situation closely and will reopen once it is safe and appropriate to do so.

"We would like to thank all our loyal guests and customers for their continued support and look forward to welcoming them back in due course."
