English professional football has been suspended until at least April 30 because of the ongoing spread of coronavirus.

Last Friday, officials at The FA took the decision to pause the domestic campaign until April 3 but that blanket ban has been extended upon receipt of government advice which advises against mass public gatherings of any kind.

Under existing regulations the season would have to be brought to a close by June 1, although that rule has been waived in the current climate after clubs agreed to complete their fixture lists as soon as it is declared safe and possible to do so.

Following the postponement of this summer's European Championships, league matches may now take place in the month of June, with a decision on the commencement of the 2020/21 schedule to be made in future months.

Meanwhile, Bolton have confirmed that from 5pm on March 20, only essential personnel will be granted access to the University of Bolton Stadium and the Eddie Davies Training Ground.

Club employees will be tasked with working from home until further notice, as the country continues to battle against the COVID-19 pandemic that has struck the globe.
