Ronan Darcy was left out of Bolton's squad for Saturday's defeat at Coventry City after picking up a foot injury, according to manager Keith Hill.

Darcy, who has made 20 appearances for Wanderers this season, was dropped to the substitutes' bench against Tranmere Rovers and left out completely for the weekend trip to the St Andrew's Trillion Trophy Stadium, prompting concerned supporters to speculate whether contractual issues were to blame for his absence.

Hill was quick to downplay such rumours, however, revealing the 19-year-old was sent for a scan which confirmed there had been no fracture to his foot.

"He had an x-ray yesterday (Friday) but I think he has been given the all-clear," Hill told The Bolton News. "It's a foot injury.

"The x-ray proved there was no fracture, so we're okay with that one. Sonny Graham was injured too.

"I don't know if they will be back on the training pitch before Tuesday or not, we'll have to wait and see."
