Bolton defender Jordan Boon has joined Northern Premier League side Atherton Collieries on a work experience loan deal.

Boon, who made five appearances for Wanderers at the start of the campaign, will be eligible for Colls first-team fixtures whilst also reporting for training both with the non-league outfit and the Trotters at their Lostock base.

The 19-year-old will be able to feature at under-23 level for Bolton throughout the duration of the deal but cannot be considered for senior games in the EFL.

Boon, who played alongside Atherton boss Brad Cooke during a loan spell at Northwich Victoria last season, says his goal is to help his new club move away from the relegation zone - which they currently lie just two points above.

"My objectives are to come and enjoy my football and get playing time, and to also experience a different league and the style of play to test myself," Boon told

"I also look to aim to get Colls up the table and hopefully make the play offs. I can't wait to get started."
