Bolton have completed the signing of Rochdale defender Ryan Delaney, who has signed an 18-month contract at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Delaney, who worked under current Wanderers boss Keith Hill during his time at the Crown Oil Arena, began his career at Irish club Wexford before moving to Burton Albion in July 2016.

He failed to make a single appearance during an 18-month stay at the Pirelli Stadium and moved to Dale in January 2018, where he would go on to make a total of 57 appearances over a two-year spell.

The 23-year-old spent the first half of this season on loan at AFC Wimbledon, scoring once in 16 outings, and played against the Trotters in a 2-2 draw back in December.

Delaney will not be eligible for Saturday's home clash with Tranmere Rovers but will go into the squad for the following weekend's trip to Coventry City.
