Bolton have completed the signing of Jacob Mellis on a short-term deal, after his contract at Mansfield Town was terminated by mutual consent.

Mellis, who will remain with Wanderers until the end of the season, had made 102 appearances for the Stags since joining on a free transfer from Bury in July 2017 - including 19 so far this campaign.

A product of the Chelsea academy, the now 29-year-old has also represented the likes of Southampton, Barnsley, Blackpool and Oldham Athletic, as well as earning caps for England at youth levels between the ages of 17 and 19.

The experienced midfielder will be ineligible to face Tranmere Rovers on Saturday, but could come into contention for selection when the Trotters travel to Coventry City next weekend.
