Will Buckley is unlikely to feature again this season after scans confirmed he suffered a fractured tibia in Bolton's draw with Bristol Rovers.

Buckley, who rejoined the club on Monday just three weeks after being released at the end of a short-term deal, was introduced as a 69th minute substitute but was replaced by Chris O'Grady eight minutes later after a lengthy period of treatment on the field of play.

The 30-year-old was treated by medical personnel at the University of Bolton Stadium before being transported to hospital.

He will undergo surgery over the course of the next few days and is likely to miss between three and six months of action, making any return in Wanderers' battle against relegation almost certainly out of reach.
