Ali Crawford could soon be back in contention at Bolton, after stepping up his recovery from a long-term knee injury.

Crawford, who has been absent since being stretchered out of Wanderers' Trophy victory over Manchester City U21 in October, was videoed by the club's media team on Wednesday making use of gym facilities at their Lostock training base.

The 28-year-old then took to Twitter on Thursday, revealing he had been running on grass for the first time in three months.

The former Doncaster Rovers midfielder isn't expected to be available to manager Keith Hill in the short-term, but it is anticipated several weeks of further rehabilitation - combined with minutes for the under-23 side - may see Crawford back in action by March.
