Bolton have identified Hull City's Brandon Fleming as the player to fill the void left by Adam Chicksen's departure from the club.

Fleming, who is highly rated at the KCOM Stadium, has made 14 appearances for the Tigers' first-team - half of which have come during the current campaign - and he could be drafted in ahead of Saturday's home clash with Portsmouth as Wanderers boss Keith Hill continues in his quest to strengthen his struggling squad.

Liam Edwards, Harry Brockbank and Ethan Hamilton have all endured miserable spells on the left-hand side of defence over the past couple of games, brought on after Chicksen's short-term deal came to an end and Josh Earl's spell on loan from Preston North End also lapsed.

Joe Bunney is the Trotters' only senior option but has yet to make his debut following a car accident in September, so the prospect of Fleming's arrival at the University of Bolton Stadium could add some much-needed steel to a backline which has conceded 11 goals in their opening three games of 2020.
