Bolton have reached an agreement with Forest Green Rovers over the collapsed transfer of Christian Doidge.

Doidge joined Wanderers on loan from the League Two club in August 2018 and had been set to make the move permanent this past January, in an arrangement which could eventually have seen a fee rise towards the £1million mark.

He scored just once in 17 appearances at the University of Bolton Stadium before being recalled to The New Lawn following a public spat between chairman Dale Vince and the now former owner of the Trotters - Ken Anderson.

Doidge would score 10 times upon his return to Forest Green, where they would ultimately lose out on promotion to League One with a play-off semi-final defeat to Tranmere Rovers, before completing a reported £250,000 switch to Scottish Premiership side Hibernian in June.

The 27-year-old made a slow start to life North of the Border but has come to life in recent weeks - with a hat-trick against St Johnstone on November 9 igniting a run of scoring in five consecutive games. In total, Doidge has a return of nine goals from his 22 outings so far this campaign.
